Pipti was a small, fluffy puppy with big, hopeful eyes. Today was her birthday, a day she’d been looking forward to for weeks. She’d imagined balloons, presents, and lots of belly rubs from her human family. But as the day wore on, a heavy silence settled over her small world.
No one seemed to remember. No happy birthday songs, no treats, and no special attention. Pipti’s heart felt like a heavy stone. She wandered from room to room, her tail drooping sadly. She sniffed at the corners, hoping to find a forgotten present, but to no avail.
As the sun began to set, Pipti curled up in her basket, tears welling up in her eyes. She thought about all the other dogs she’d seen on TV, with their happy families and birthday parties. Why couldn’t she have that? Why was she so alone?
Just as she was about to give up hope, she heard a faint scratching sound. She peered out from her basket to see a tiny, scruffy kitten staring up at her. The kitten meowed softly, as if trying to comfort her.
Pipti’s heart softened. At least she wasn’t completely alone. She wagged her tail and the kitten hopped onto her lap. Together, they curled up and fell asleep, dreaming of a brighter tomorrow.
