Weni was a happy-go-lucky dog. He loved chasing squirrels, playing fetch, and napping in sunbeams. But today was different. Today was Weni’s birthday, and he felt a strange emptiness in his heart.
His human parents, who he adored, had been acting strangely lately. They’d been packing boxes and whispering in hushed tones. Weni didn’t understand, but he could sense something wasn’t right.
As the day wore on, Weni’s worst fears were confirmed. His parents sat him down, their faces filled with sadness. “Weni,” his dad said, his voice trembling, “we have some bad news. We’re moving, and we can’t take you with us.”
Weni’s heart pounded in his chest. He didn’t want to leave his family. He’d always been by their side, through thick and thin. But his parents explained that they couldn’t give him the attention he deserved in their new home.
That night, Weni lay awake in his bed, staring at the ceiling. Tears streamed down his furry face. He missed his parents already, and the thought of being alone in a strange place terrified him.
The next morning, his parents took him to a shelter. The place was noisy and overwhelming. There were dogs of all shapes and sizes barking and whining. Weni felt lost and alone.
As his parents drove away, Weni watched them from the window, his heart aching. He missed his old home, his toys, and most of all, his family. He didn’t know what the future held, but he hoped he’d find a new family who loved him as much as his old one had.
