Coca was a small, fluffy poodle with a heart as big as the world. Today was his special day, his birthday! He had waited eagerly for weeks, imagining a day filled with treats, toys, and lots of love. But as the sun began to set, Coca realized he was alone.
No one had come to celebrate with him. No happy birthday songs, no belly rubs, and no presents. Coca felt a pang of sadness. He curled up in his cozy basket, his tiny heart heavy. He looked out the window at the cheerful neighborhood dogs playing with their families. He wished he had someone to play with too.
As the night grew darker, Coca couldn’t hold back the tears anymore. He whimpered softly, his tiny voice echoing through the empty house. Just when he thought his day couldn’t get any worse, he heard a soft scratching at the door. His ears perked up. Could it be? He wagged his tail excitedly and ran to the door. To his surprise, there stood a small, scruffy cat, holding a tiny, wrapped gift in its mouth.
The cat meowed softly and placed the gift at Coca’s feet. Coca sniffed it curiously and then tore it open. Inside was a small, squeaky toy. He picked it up and played with it happily. The cat watched him with a gentle smile.
“Thank you,” Coca said, his voice barely a whisper.
The cat purred in response and curled up next to Coca. Together, they watched the stars twinkle in the night sky. As Coca drifted off to sleep, he felt a warmth in his heart that he hadn’t felt all day. He realized that even though he was alone, he wasn’t truly lonely. He had a friend, a small, scruffy cat who had made his birthday a little less sad. And that was enough.
