Hank was a small, fluffy puppy with big, sad eyes. Today was his birthday, but it was also the day his mother had left him forever. He missed her more than anything in the world.
He remembered the warmth of her fur, the comfort of her lap, and the gentle way she would lick his ears. He missed the way she would play with him, chase him around the yard, and tell him how much she loved him.
Hank had been brought to the animal shelter when he was just a few weeks old. He had been heartbroken when his mother had been taken away from him. He had tried to follow her, but the shelter staff had stopped him.
Now, as he sat in his kennel, Hank felt a deep sadness wash over him. He missed his mother more than anything in the world. He wished she could come back and take him home with her.
As the day wore on, Hank curled up in his kennel and cried. He felt so alone and unwanted. He wished he could be with his mother, wherever she was.
Just as Hank was about to fall asleep, he heard a gentle voice. “Hello, little guy,” the voice said. “Are you okay?”
Hank looked up and saw a kind-looking woman standing above him. She had a warm smile and gentle eyes. Hank wagged his tail tentatively, hoping she would help him.
The woman knelt down and gently petted Hank’s head. “You’re such a sweet boy,” she said. “Would you like to come home with me?”
Hank’s heart leaped with joy. He had finally found a new family. The woman picked him up and carried him away from the shelter. As they walked, Hank looked up at her with gratitude. He knew his life was about to change, and he hoped that one day he would find his mother again.
