Two puppies, placed in separate kennels, had been left at the facility overnight. There were no accompanying belongings or documents, only a short, handwritten note offering limited information.
A Swift Response and Initial Care
The two puppies, of different breeds, appeared confused and uncertain. The FCAS staff, despite their surprise, acted quickly and brought the puppies inside, providing them with immediate care and comfort. The FCAS team expressed their gratitude for the responsible action of leaving the puppies where they would be found promptly. “Thank you for leaving them in a spot where we would be sure to see them right away,” they wrote in a social media post.

The handwritten note provided basic information about the puppies: their names, approximate ages, breeds, and brief notes about their personalities. “Simba – very friendly, Australian Shepherd mix,” the note read. “Nala – German Shepherd mix, has worms, unknown birthday, approx. 12 weeks,” it continued. While the note offered some details, it didn’t reveal the circumstances surrounding their abandonment. The FCAS team chose not to judge the person who left the puppies, acknowledging that they didn’t know the individual’s situation or the reasons behind their difficult decision. More than three months have passed since Simba and Nala were left at the FCAS. Neither puppy has yet found a permanent home. Because no one has come forward to claim them, they are still considered under a stray hold. The FCAS has chosen to wait a little longer before making them available for adoption, giving their previous owner(s) a chance to contact the shelter. Despite the uncertainty surrounding their past, Simba and Nala are thriving in the care of the FCAS staff. They are receiving love, attention, and all the necessary care they need.
