Jagi was a small, brown dog with big, soulful eyes. He’d been homeless for as long as he could remember. His days were filled with scavenging for scraps, finding shelter under abandoned cars, and avoiding the unfriendly stares of passersby. Today, however, was different. It was Jagi’s birthday.

Jagi had no idea how old he was, but he knew it was a special day. He’d always hoped that one day, someone would remember his birthday. Maybe they’d bring him a treat or a toy. Maybe they’d even give him a warm place to sleep. But as the day wore on, Jagi realized that his dreams were just that – dreams.

He wandered the streets, his tail tucked between his legs. No one seemed to notice him, let alone wish him a happy birthday. Jagi felt a pang of sadness in his heart. Was he really so insignificant? So unloved?

As the sun began to set, Jagi curled up under a parked car. He closed his eyes and tried to forget about his loneliness. But the more he tried, the more his sadness grew. Tears welled up in his eyes, and he let them fall. He was just a small, homeless dog, and no one cared.

Just as he was about to give up hope, he heard a soft voice. “Hello there, little guy.” Jagi looked up to see a young girl standing above him. She had a kind smile on her face. “Happy birthday,” she said. “Would you like a treat?”

Jagi’s heart skipped a beat. Someone had actually remembered his birthday! He wagged his tail excitedly and took the treat from the girl. As she petted him gently, Jagi felt a warmth spread through his body. For the first time in a long time, he felt loved.
