### The Story of Mon
Mon was an old dog, with fur that had turned gray around his muzzle and joints that creaked with every movement. He had spent his entire life being a loyal companion to his owner, a man who Mon loved more than anything in the world. Mon had been there through every phase of his owner’s life: the happy times, the sad times, the quiet nights, and the busy days. They had shared countless memories together, and Mon had always believed that they would be together forever.
But as the years went by, things began to change. Mon’s owner became less attentive, more preoccupied with other matters. The man who once played with him in the yard, who took him on long walks, and who whispered kind words in his ear now seemed distant, his mind elsewhere. Mon didn’t understand why things were different, but he remained as loyal as ever, always waiting by the door for his owner to return, always hoping for a gentle pat on the head.
One day, Mon overheard a conversation that made his heart ache. His owner was talking on the phone, explaining that he was moving to a new place, a place where dogs weren’t allowed. Mon’s ears perked up at the sound of his owner’s voice, but what he heard next filled him with dread. His owner was planning to take him to a rescue, a place for unwanted animals. The realization hit Mon hard—his owner didn’t want to take him along.
The days leading up to the move were filled with a strange silence. The house, once so full of life and love, felt empty. Mon tried to stay close to his owner, hoping to change his mind, but his owner barely noticed him. The boxes piled up, and the house slowly lost the warmth it once had. Mon’s heart grew heavier with each passing day.
Finally, the day arrived, the day Mon had been dreading. It was his birthday, but there was no celebration, no acknowledgment of the years they had spent together. Instead, Mon was left alone in the corner of the house, watching as the last of the boxes were packed. He couldn’t understand why his owner would leave him behind, why the bond they shared was no longer enough.
As the sun began to set, Mon lay down in his favorite spot by the window, the place where he used to sit and wait for his owner to come home. He rested his head on his paws, tears filling his eyes. He thought about all the happy memories they had shared, the times when his owner would smile at him, ruffle his fur, and tell him what a good dog he was. But now, those memories seemed like a distant dream.
Mon let out a soft whimper, his old body trembling with the weight of his sorrow. This was his last night in the home he had known all his life, the place where he had felt loved and safe. Tomorrow, he would be taken to the rescue, a place filled with strange smells and unfamiliar faces. He didn’t know what would happen to him there, but he knew that it wouldn’t be the same.
As the house grew dark, Mon cried quietly, his heart breaking with every tear. He couldn’t understand why his owner had chosen to leave him behind, why he wasn’t worth taking along to the new place. All he wanted was to stay by his owner’s side, to be with the person he loved more than anything in the world. But now, it seemed that wasn’t meant to be.
On his last birthday in the home he had always known, Mon cried himself to sleep, knowing that tomorrow, everything would change. The love he had given so freely was no longer enough to keep him by his owner’s side, and the future seemed uncertain and full of sadness. But even in his sorrow, Mon remained loyal, his heart still full of love for the owner who had meant everything to him.
